Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus in metallic dresses at the 2011 Grammys.
You can't have the Grammys without a little heavy metal.
Or, in the case of this year's awards, a lot. The red carpet boasted a Fort Knox-worthy display of metallic gowns—the perfect complement to all those platinum records.
Jennifer Lopez led the pack in a thigh-grazing, disco ball-chic silver Emilio Pucci minidress paired with dramatic hair extensions, silver Christian Louboutin Very Mix pumps, and $340,000 worth of Cartier jewelery, including two panther cocktail rings. Way to show off those Venus-approved legs!
Teen queens Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez also couldn't resist the metallic trend. While Cyrus wore a sparkling tiger-print Roberto Cavalli gown, Gomez opted for a slinky, buttery gold J. Mendel creation accessorized with Brian Atwood heels, a Judith Leiber clutch, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Twenty-four karat fashion also proved surprisingly versatile, as demonstrated by golden girls Heidi Klum and LeAnn Rimes. While Klum went for glitzy and glam in a sequined Julien Macdonald number with cut-out shoulders and a leg slit that revealed her python Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels, Rimes' sparkling Reem Acra ensemble had an art deco vibe thanks to its artful draping and her slicked-back bun.
Finally, there was no last-place finish for the ultra-sexy Kim Kardashian, whose bronze beaded KaufmanFranco halter-neck dress had a '70s-era showgirl effect as it flashed generous amounts of cleavage and thigh.
Hey, just because you aren't up for a trophy doesn't mean you can't dress like one.
And check out the softer trend that swept the Grammys.
